Local Business Licenses
In addition to getting a tax ID number and registering with the SCC (see our “4 Steps to Start a Business” article for details), all new businesses should check requirements with their local licensing agency. Typically there is some paperwork and a small fee associated with obtaining your local business license.
We’ve put together a list of all the local license contacts in the area covered by the Roanoke Regional SBDC; however, if you don’t see your locality or find the information is out of date, try doing an Internet search.
